Never Postpone

Once Srihari came in the disguise and went to Yudhistira asking for some money during night. Yudhistira told him to come in the next morn ing. The Brahmana went to Bheemasena and said he is in urgent need of money and told Yudhistira asked him to come the next morning. Bheemasena immediately handed over him some jewels and the Brahmana made his exit.

Bheemasena beat the drum at night continuously. On hearing this, Yudhistira asked Bheema for the reason for it. Bheemasena told Dharmaraja believes that he is certain to be alive the next day, as such I am beating the drum.

Bheemasena advised Dharmaraja never to postpone the dharmakarya and then onwards Dharmaraja followed the Bheema in giving Dharma without any delay.

  18. Shishupala (defeated)
  19. Suvajra (killed)
  20. Many other daithyaas
  21. 100 Kauravas

  1. Avatar of Mukhya Prana(Vayu), the next Brahma-in-line
  2. Amongst Pandavas, he represented “Jnana” or knowledge.
  3. He was extremely well-built, handsome, intelligent and righteous
  4. When he was very young, he slipped from his mother’s clutches and fell on the Shatha-shrunga mountain. The mountain broke into hundreds of pieces.
  5. In the Mahabharata, he was main hero (apart from Lord Krishna, of course).
  6. He never violated the words of Krishna even once.
  7. In spite of his enormous strength and knowledge, he was the epitome of humility. In the Udyoga parva, when Lord Krishna collects the opinion of the Pandavas before approaching the Kauravas, Bhima is made to give a description of his own capabilities to everyone (by Krishna). At the end of Bhima’s narrative (which is overwhelming for any other warrior), Krishna tells him that his capability is actually 1000 times more than what he has mentioned!
  8. He was the first person to attack at the commencement of the Kurukshetra war. He was also the last person to engage in combat, having killed Duryodhana.
  9. The Mahabharata describes that when the war commenced, he gave such a fierce and loud roar that horses and elephants standing there passed out.
  10. During the wax palace episode, the minister in-charge appointed by Duryodhana to kill the Pandavas wanted to set fire to the palace when all the Pandavas were asleep. After six months, he went ahead with his plan anyways because he realized that Bhima never slept!
  11. During the war, he killed six out of eleven Akshouhinis fielded by the Kauravas.
  12. Before the war, during the forest exile of the Pandavas, Yudhishthira gives up hopes of any post-exile rule and comforts himself with forest life. He relents from the thought of war. Arjuna does the same just before the commencement of the war. Yudhishthira is brought back on track by Bhima’s advice. Lord Krishna does the same to Arjuna. Bhima, though, never once is confused about the necessity of war.
  13. Lord Bhima had 24 wives, 20 of whom were daughters of Vasudeva (father of Lord Krishna)!
  14. Out of the 5 Pandavas, the first to marry was not the older Yudhishthira, but Bhimasena, the second Pandava. He married Hidimbi, a Rakshasi, upon Sri Vyasa’s instructions, in accordance with his dharma of not violating the Lord’s words (Krishna/Vyasa/Parashurama) even once!

Panch Kedar

http://shivadurga.blogspot.com/2010/11/panch-kedar-map-6th-kedar-shradha.html

Description as Per Wife Draupadi

The Pandava brothers were collectively married to Draupadi. On one occasion, Draupadi was kidnapped and abducted from a hermitage in the forest by the wicked king Jayadratha. When her husbands learned of the crime, they came in hot pursuit. Seeing them approach, Jayadratha asked Draupadi to describe them. Angrily, Draupadi told the king his time was up, and that the knowledge would do him no good. She then proceeded to give the description. (Mahābhārat, Book III: Varna Parva, Section 268.)
According to Draupadi,
  1. Yudhisthira possessed a "complexion like that of pure gold, possessed of a prominent nose and large eyes, and endued with a slender make." Master of the spear. He was just, had a correct sense of morality, and was merciful to surrendering foes. Draupadi counselled Jayadratha to run to Yudhisthira and to beg for forgiveness.
  2. Draupadi described Bhima as tall and long-armed. In a display of ferocity, he was "biting his lips, and contracting his forehead so as to bring the two eyebrows together." The master of the mace, his superhuman feats had earned him great renown. "They that offend him are never suffered to live. He never forgets a foe. On some pretext or other he wreaks his vengeance."
  3. Arjuna she praised as the greatest of archers, intelligent, second to none "with senses under complete control." Neither lust nor fear nor anger could make him forsake virtue. Though capable of withstanding any foe, he would never commit an act of cruelty.
  4. Nakula, said Draupadi, was "the most handsome person in the whole world." An accomplished master swordsman, he was also "versed in every question of morality and profit" and "endued with high wisdom." He was unflinchingly devoted to his brothers, who in turn regarded him as more valuable than their own lives. The name Nakula generally means full of love and the male characteristics implied by the name are: Intelligence, Focus, Hard-Work, Handsomeness, Health, Attractiveness, Success, Popularity, Respect, and unconditional Love.
  5. Finally, Sahadeva was the youngest of the brothers, and like the others formidable in war and observant of morality. Master of the swords "Heroic, intelligent, wise and ever wrathful, there is not another man equal unto him in intelligence or in eloquence amid assemblies of the wise."

Iravan / Slain / Arjun's Reaction

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iravan
http://www.warriormonks.com/kurukshetra/bhisma-parva/bp-8.html

Iravan was slain after a fierce fight. When Arjuna heard this, he broke down completely. Said he turning to Vasudeva: "Vidura had indeed told us plainly that both sides would be plunged in grief unbearable. What are we doing all this wretched destruction up on one another for? Just for the sake of property. After all this killing, what joy are we or they likely to find in the end? O Madhusudana, I now see why the far seeing Yudhishthira said he would be content if Duryodhana would give five villages to us, keeping everything else to himself and he would not resort to fighting if that were agreed to. Duryodhana, in his obstinate folly, refused to give even these five villages and so, these great sins have to be committed on both sides. I continue fighting only because men would otherwise think me a coward, who could submit tamely to wrong. When I see the dead warriors lying on the field, my heart is filled with unbearable anguish. Oh, how wicked we are to carry on in this miserable, sinful way."

I alsovisited an ancient temple of Lakshmi Narayana built by the Pandavas 5000years ago, in Chinnaur,Himachal Pradesh. This temple is very peaceful, and they conduct services here like free food distribution, Pooja ofvarious types etc. Lord Krishna has blessed the Pandavas to buildtemples all over India, and we can also find temples built by thePandavas in places as far south as Bangalore.

Draupadi and Subhadra

A scene from the Mahabharata. After Arjuna weds Subhadra he brings her back to his family. Draupadi, Arjuna's first wife, becomes jealous and refuses to see him or speak to him. To pacify her, Subhadra humbly goes to her dressed as a village girl and requests to become her servant. Draupadi heart softens after seeing her humility and sweetness, and she remembers that Subhadra is Lord Krishna's sister. She immediately casts away her jealousy and they become the best of friends.

Rasa with Krishna

Fraternal 'rasa' - "When there is full knowledge of Krsna's superiority and yet in dealings with Him on friendly terms respectfulness in completely absent,
that stage is called affection.

When the Pandavas were banished by Duryodhana and forced to live incognito in the forest, no-one could trace out where they were staying. At that time, the great sage Narada Muni met Lord Krsna and said, "My dear Mukunda, although You are the Supreme Personality of Godhead, the all powerful person, by making friendship with You the Pandavas have become bereft of their legitimate right to the kingdom of the world - and moreover, they are now living in the forest incognito. Sometimes they must work as ordinary laborers in someone else's house. These symptoms appear to be very inauspicious materially, but the beauty is that, the Pandavas have not lost their faith and love for You, in spite of all these tribulations. In fact, they are always thinking of You and chanting Your name in ecstatic friendship.

Arjuna as a Gopi

All visitors to Gokul by convention receive Mantra of Krishna from Radha and morph into females by taking a dip into a gender-changing and memory-erasing pool, Amrta. Arjuni, the erstwhile Arjuna, could not tell who the ladies of Goloka were or who he was. Arjuna became Arjuni on dipping into the pool, before he saw Krishna in his palace. Before he left Goloka, he took another dip in western pool, which restored all his previous faculties and body parts.
